On Saturday, October 1, 2016, His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion, H. G. Bishop Abraham and H. G. Bishop Kirollos celebrated the Divine Liturgy at St. Justina Church in Rancho Cucamonga and elevated the Very Reverend Father John Mikhail to the priestly dignity of Hegumen.
Father John Morcos Mikhail was born in Alexandria, Egypt on February 20, 1964. He earned Bachelor of Science in civil Engineering from the University of Alexandria 1986. Shortly thereafter he immigrated to the United States of America and resided in California where he worked as an Engineer for the County of San Bernardino.
He served as a youth servant and hymnology teacher at the Holy Virgin Mary Church in Los Angeles from 1986-1991. He also served as a deacon and Sunday School servant at St. Abanoub and St. Antony Coptic Orthodox Church in Norco from 1992-1999.
On January 24, 1999, His Grace Bishop Serapion and H. E. Metropolitan Hedra of Aswan ordained Father John a Presbyter. He served at our beloved Saint Mary Coptic Orthodox Church in Victorville from 1999-2004. Saint Mary Church congregation congratulates Fr. John on his elevation to Hegumen.
Father John is currently at Saint Justina Coptic Orthodox Church in Rancho Cucamonga.
